DISASTER

Emaciated patient with enterocutaneous fistula
Author and Hospital Administrator giving blood
The last case of the day was a DISASTER. Three weeks ago this patient came with a strangulated hernia requiring a bowel resection. He developed an anastomotic leak and enterocutaneous fistula via the hernia site. He was slowly dying from inanition. We decided to do a heroic surgery. We operated and resected the fistula. The patient needed blood so Dr Kelechi, the Hospital Administrator, and I went to the lab to donate. We pray the patient survives.
